Hi everyone,

I have this riding lawn mower (that is around 5yrs old).
I just replace two spark plug, new air, engine oil and fuel filter today.
My problem is;
Engine starts perfect, but when I release the clutch, it dies.
Does anyone know what causes this problem?
I googled little bit and got some thought that the PTO clutch is the problem.
If you have similar problem, please share your experience with me.

It could also be the seat safety switch.

Hi Scrubcadet10,​

That was my initial thought, and I already check it. The switch works fine.
Since the engine dies just right after releasing the clutch, the issue comes from other elements.
Do you think a dirty carburetor causes this issue?

i should have asked this first,
does it die out like it runs out of fuel, or does it die like you turn the key off?

it seems that it dies like turning the key off.
What's the difference between out of fuel or turning the key off?

Still can be the seat connector as it has a shorting strip in it that I have seen to fail in the shorted position. There should be no continuity between the grey wire and any of the black wires with the seat switch depressed if the connector and switch is good.

well, usually if it starts running low on fuel, you might notice a drop in RPM's and sputtering/rough running.

I just wonder what the grey wire is for.
Is it a ground?
If you don't mind, may you explain briefly?
there are three wires (green, black and grey) from the chassis and there is a connect that has four pins and two pins tie together.

The magneto kill wire is a ground wire .
Open = run
Close to ground = no spark
The seat switch is in a loop with the parking brake . brake off & no one in the seat engine dies
And a second loop with the blades , no one in the seat blades won't engage &/or blades on then no one in the seat blades or engine stops.
Because of the very large number of brain dead morons out there who disconnect the seat switch for no good reason other than to prove they are idiots , most newer mowers use a complicated plug with a socket on the mower side that closes the circuits ( no one in the seat ) if the plug is disconnected .
When the 4 pin flat plug you have is fitted there is generally a third circuit preventing the engine cranking if no one is in the seat

Because they are ground circuits, anywhere that the insulation has been rubbed through is a spot where the wires can go short to the frame.

When you are in the seat the black wires ( ground ) are disconnected from the switched Grey wire which ultimately goes to the magneto .
Husqvarna put there wiring diagrams in the front of their parts books .

I had this same problem with a Toro zero turn mower. I bought a new PTO switch because that is what internet says it is. Didn't work. Finally took it to the shop. It was a 95cent diode that blew. BUT you can't buy it separately you have to buy the whole wiring harness. That fixed the problem.
