Husqvarna mower key needed

Well, the key on my Husqvarna is looking kinda poorly like it might snap off at the base. I laughed that a craftman mower we have the key also fits the Husqvarna, but it is also in sad shape. Are these keys fairly generic and if so, can I get a replacement?

The metal key switch is normally a generic Intak key and the plastic key switch is the Delta key. There are a few odd ball keys out there but between the two it would cover about 99.5% of all mowers on the market.

SO you look up your mowers ignition switch number from the free download IPL
Then you drop that part number into any of the aftermarket on line parts catelogues
That will bring up the switch and the key as a "related item"
Every one does a line of keys but Prime Line has the most comprehensive one
MY tool kit key ring has 8 keys on it and 4 of them are for John Deere
The remaining 4 do just about all of the major brands other than Kubota & Walker

Basically as IL said you either have an INDAK


Or Delta key which may come with a plastic covered head.


I lay odds on it being the Delta key.

I own one of the last Dixon ztr's made before Husqvarna shut them down. A small flathead screwdriver works fine.

Which of course destroys the actual switch
Then because it is top heavy it falls out so you start then pull it out which means if you have to shut down in a hurry you have to find the screwdriver in the tools bin shove it in the hole to shut down the mower.

Not the smartest thing to be doing with a very dangerous piece of equipment
And if you think mowers are not dangerous, pop down to the local emergency ward of your local hospital and have a chat to the triarge nurse .

Check with Ace Hardware . I have seen mower keys at their store.

I only used it once when my grandson hid my keys. Didn't hurt the switch and the screwdriver was small enough to fit in the cup holder.
