Trying to help my 80yr nabor, this is a Husqvarna YTH22V46 product # 96045006102. Originally his drive belt broke and destroyed the transaxle fan. I replaced them, but after several hours of use the pulley and fan came off . The retaining nut was still on and very tight. Any idea what I did wrong? Also the local dealer of several major brands of mowers/repair/parts hasn’t been able to find the correct pulley. Any one know of a possible source for one?
The mower was bought around 2017 but only has 112 hours on it.

Ok, I found the tag and eventually found what appears to be the correct parts ordered. They should be here in 4 or 5 days. Any thoughts on what caused the pulley to break like it did?

Looks like someone didn't torque the nut properly after replacing the belt.
FAN > 53822
PULLEY > 53815
Fan Nut torque 540-660 in-lbs [45ft-lbs to 55 ft-lbs]
As a general rule, use the low end of the torque spec on fasteners when reassembling the unit.

That would be me
I didn’t use a torque wrench but the nut was still very tight and still on the shaft. The pulley and fan came off, what looks like a nut in the fan picture is just part of the metal disc in the center of the fan. This just has 1 nut that holds the splined adapter, pulley and fan on. I saw a diagram on line that appears to show a nut holding the adapter and pulley on, then a washer, then the fan then another washer and nut. That looks like a better way to hold everything and the shaft has enough length to do that.
I will torque it to the spec you sent when I get the new parts, I guess I just don’t understand why this happened since the nut wasn’t loose. Do you see a problem with using the 2 nut setup?

Yes I understand the setup as I looked up the transaxle on the Hydro Gear dealer site. I am also a Hydro Gear repair shop so I have access to the correct IPLs.
Also make sure the pulley is fully seated on the adapter. If not it will spin.

Not having the pulley seated correctly would explain what happened. Thank you for looking up the diagram and confirming the correct setup. I appreciate your time and input.
