Hi all. From Australia, got a 520D, turned off the mower to adjust the height of the deck went to re-engage the PTO and it wouldn't. At the same time the handbrake cable snapped of the brake mechanism inside the left front wheel. Fixed that and now still won't engage. Pulled the side cover off to expose the fuses....all good and little LEDs light up when I pull up on the PTO know.
Any thoughts, grass is growing....

Check PTO wiring condition. Make sure the PTO has proper ground and power when the PTO switch is activated. Without the engine running, you should be able to hear the electric PTO clutch engage and disengage has you operate the switch on/off while sitting on the seat.

Consider the following:

The PTO switch itself could be worn out from use and age.

The seat safety switch may not be working correctly.

The next problem may be excessive air gab on the clutch drive plate. Some PTO clutches have 3 nuts on studs that have to be tightened equally to reduce the air gap.
