I use windex & wipe things off well w/it & then give it a coat of wax. my 18 year old B&S push mower still looks pretty near new shine.

Heating the plastic up with a torch or heat gun brings the oils up to the surface and makes it look better (sometimes). It will not remain looking that way for long based on what I have read online. I would not recommend doing this. Taking some WD-40 and scotch brite pads or very fine sandpaper and “wet sanding” the plastic will take out the chalkiness.
