How to keep your discharge chute in up position

I totally agree....I just figure if someone is going to mow without it they should just remove it. When they throw a rock or other object and put out a window...or even worse injure someone, they will discover that mowing without the discharge chute was NOT a good idea(and why they come with one). My "real" recommendation is that if the discharge chute is creating unmanageable windrows.....remove it BUT.....install a mulch kit that comes with a cover for the chute opening.

It also comes in handy to keep some kids foot from meeting a blade. I cringe thinking about it.

The chute was not put on to keep rocks from flying. It was put on so dumb people would not touch a moving blade.

On my toro I leave it down because it is made of rubber and folds in if it hits something like a tree or the side if the trailer.
My snapper has a steel chute I keep it up with a spring. I do the same with most of my other mowers with the plastic chutes.

I have some decks I keep the chute down because if it is up I get hit with all the grass.

If you plan on raising the discharge chute whenever you are mowing......just remove it completely:0)

Some of us here prefer to leave the discharge chute down when possible.
But I also have a lot of areas where the deck will not fit through with the chute down. So I need to be able to raise/lower the chute multiple times per mowing

Bungee is the simplest solution.

What I did was cut most of it off so I would not need to lift it.
