How hard is it to remove a belt driven rear catcher from a d 170 John Deere

I have a 54" John Deere with a belt driven rear grass catcher attachment. In lieu of buying a new lawn mower I want to remove the rear catcher from the entire mower (Belt attachment and all and go with a mulching kit. However during the Fall I would like to put the mulching kit back on. Is this a major job?
 
I'm assuming you just want to remove the deck to drive it around as a yard tractor, yes?

If so, it's an easier job to remove than replace.
