Honda Izy mower grass collection

Hi there
I have a honda Izy HRG465C2 mower that does not collect the grass with very much power.If the grass is approx 3 inches high or more the grass soon blocks up the entrance to the grass box leaving the box about 1 third full.As I mow I can watch as the grass bag is inflated by the air from the mower and then deflate as the entrance to the bag becomes blocked leaving lots of room still in the bag.
I have power washed the bag which did help and I have ordered a new blade, can anyone suggest what else I can do. Your replies will be much appreciated.

I moved your thread to the Honda forum. :smile:

Here are some general reasons:

• Blades are dull OR the wrong ones OR on upside down.
• Grass is too wet.
• Mower deck is dirty.

Also the things you fixed like a dirty mower bag and not cutting grass that is too long (I think). You say it's if the grass gets past 3 inches, but how low are you cutting it at? You should not cut off more than 1/3 of the grass height.

Thanks for replying, yes the blade is dull and I have cut more than the top third of the grass.I will clean the deck properly If I can only remove the blade. I do not think it can be done without a very long socket spanner,so is a job for Mower repairers.
