hello everyone,

i hope you can help me. i have taken on project to help fix a honda hrd 536 lawnmower. the problem was that it does not drive.

after taking it to a lawn mower mechanic i have been told that there is a problem with the transmission. the belt spins the pulley but does not drive the wheels. the pulley also comes completely out of the whole it sits in and the mechanic has told me that this should not be the case. the pulley does not looks broken or damaged. i have included pictures to help you help me.

Box needs to be taken apart to be sure but it look's if you have drop a circlip on the shaft, there is a member here who works for Honda, maybe he may help out with a part list, are the bearing(s) still OK..?

Look's like a HRD536 - Type: HXE Serial Number Start: MZBL8000001 - Serial Number End: MZBL8099999 I could be wrong..! can you post the numbers up.

Thank you for the info EngineMan. Very much appreciated. Now that you mention it there are 2 grooves going along the chamber where the pulley shaft goes in. Maybe some kind of clip or something is supposed to go there?

Are these the numbers you were talking about?

Thanks again everyone and await your reply

Uploaded the same pics

Here they are again showing the 2 grooves along the chamber. The grooves are parallel to each other if that helps

Your next set of photos show that below the oil seal, there is a groove, which looks original and is V shape, key ways are normally square, need a part list to be sure, so wait until someone here comes up with one.

Everything appears to be excessively worn. The shaft should have not come out of the transmission, but could if has worn beyond its service life. This mower is a non-US model, and I don't have any parts or service details to share, sorry. I will guess this transmission is similar if not identical to the ones used in USA models, and it does not have any internal parts that can be replaced. I would say it is (past) time to fit a new transmission.

Abe, are you in the USA? If not, what is your location? I can give you contact details for a Honda distributor (if you are outside the USA) who might be able to obtain a replacement transmission.

Update on my lawnmower problems. im still looking for the transmission to fit a honda HRD536 lawnmower - Type: HXE Serial Number: MZBL8006962

They are the same transmission I'm pretty sure as the hrb536c. I think the part number might be: 20001-ve5-a20.

ANY ADVICE ON WHERE TO FIND THIS PART FOR UNDER 」100 IN THE UK WILL ALSO BE VERY MUCH APPRECIATED. What price are they like in america. That part number if anyone knows?
