Hi - have a small generator run by a honda g300 engine. pretty old maybe 1980's ? Been very reliable but recently no spark. Stripped it down and looks like the ignition coil is bust - showing 16 ohm through secondary coil and 0 ohm through primary. Anyhow trying to find a replacement found quite a few that look the same BUT have 4 wires - the main HT lead plus 3 other wires, 2 with spade connectors and one with a straight connector. My faulty coil only has 3 wires - the main HT lead plus a spade connector from the condenser to the points and a straight connector to the on / off switch. Anyone know what the coil with HT and 3 wires is ?? what does the 2nd spade connector go to ? and will it replace my faulty unit or do I need to search for a HT + 2 wire unit. All the units I have found are showing the same part numbers - all show 2 numbers I assume one is for the coil and the other is for the condenser.
