This is from five years ago.

Toro SS5000 [74630] with a Kawasaki FR651V-CS06.

Reported by customer as for the problem he having. Was mowing grass stopped and refueled. Mowed about 2 minutes and its died.

The mower arrives with a full tank of fuel. Cranking as normal and has spark. Nothing was wrong the mower or engine except it quit after fueling. BTW the fuel was fresh as he just brought two 5 gallon [identical] cans of fuel that morning.

The solution was to drain the fuel system including the carburetor. Another of the solution was for the customer get another fuel can of a different color which he did and problem hasn't re-recurred. Btw I saved the fuel that was in the tank and returned it to the customer.

Now what was wrong?

Diesel or kerosene was in the tank.
Always use a yellow can for diesel.
But, we all make mistakes when in a hurry. My latest mistake was spraying Roundup instead of insecticide. In a hurry, I grabbed the wrong sprayer. Yet, both sprayers are clearly marked. 🫪

You would think that someone with a tractor would know what diesel smells like, and would realize what he'd done when he did it. When I'm fueling up my tractor, there's no doubt of what fuel I'm using just from the smell. I don't solely rely on smell. My diesel fuel caddie is yellow.
