Hello and help please

Thanks for the tips everyone. I think the linkage problem is fixed but I now have a new problem. How do you install a new fuel pick up tube? The plastic is very hard and I can't get the new one on the metal tube the old one came off of. I had to cut the plastic to remove the old one.
