I am considering removing the heat shield from the muffler on my new Grasshopper 727EFI engine. Is there any reason this would be harmful to the fuel injection part of the engine. Seems to me it would benefit the engine by letting the heat dissipate away from the engine better. I did this with my old 1991 model Grasshopper but obviously it was not fuel injected. I was actually advised by the Kohler rep to do this on the 91' model to prolong engine life.

Maybe you could post some pictures of the heat shield?
