Hayter Heritage Tractor 13/30 CODE131C WITH Briggs and Stratton 12.5 HP I/C engine

Hello forum.

Driver's throttle control lever operates a small lever under the hood near the carb.

There is a spring next to this small lever that looks like it should be attached to the small lever but it is not immediately obvious how if it would if it should.

Should these be connected? Is there a special link/connector missing?



Please see the attached image.

I just manage to get this mower to run, It's been dead for a long time.

It's running rough as a dog's back and it's undoubtedly the fuel supply.

So that's the next small project.

But I'm thinking this throttle lever might be a good place to start.

All thoughts welcome

That is the choke engagement linkage. Move throttle lever to choke position and you will see contact. It may not to the un-choke position if the choke is sticking.

Thanks for the response.
That would suggest that the "spring" in the picture should be free to move in and out as the throttle control lever is moved back and forth.
Is that the right take.
At the moment it doesn't move at all.
Probably because it's rusted up.

That's what appears to be happening.
I need to strip it down and de-rust it I guess.
 
It is likely the choke shaft has swelled up and is then binding. A little sand paper usually fixes that.
