Hi to all, I'm a newbie on this site. Own an old HR215SXA need some advice. Honda site says I need a 16100-ZG9-005 (BE 46A C) carb. Cant find a reasonably
priced one, can I use a 16100-ZG9-803 carb instead. This mower has the original carb and all the insides and gaskets are worn out, rebuild kit would cost more
than a new carb. But other than being worn out, she still starts on first pull and cuts and mulches better than my brand new yard-man. I mean this thing sucks everything up, I can mulch and bag with yard-man, then go again over with honda and it fills the bag. Thanks for any and all advice..Bob

Looking at the parts illustrations, I can see a number of differences:

--Limiter cap on the mixture screw; the carb for the mower (-005) has it, but the carb for the engine (-803) does not.
--Choke plate and linkage are different; the engine carb (-803) may not be able to connect to the choke/throttle cable on the mower.
--Different main jets: mower carb is #52, engine carb uses a #60.

let me know how you make out finding a cheaper alternative, as I'm in the same boat as you. I had an old HR215 given to me with a bad carb and I would like to get it running, but almost $100 dollars in parts ( air cleaner is missing as well) isn't in the budget right now, and I can't see spending that kinda money when I've seen running ones for around $125-$150 on CL. I'll let you know if I run across anything as well.

Related question ... HR215HXA with GXV140 engine. Also have carb problems, removed it to clean and rebuild. But had to bend the crap out of the choke and Governor rods to get them off, is there a trick to get them off easy?

Remove both long carburetor bolts, disconnect fuel tube, breather tube first, then you can rotate and position the carburetor so the Z-bend rods will easily come out.
