Problem started with an oil leak at the governor rod. Removed clamp holding the governor rod to inspect seal. When installing the clamp, I rotated the governor rod clockwise to end of travel (about 15 degrees) and clamped the rod. Somehow, I totally wrecked the governor. Pulled engine, accessed oil pan, metal fragments from governor gear all over. Rebuilt governor, put engine back on Scag, set new governor rod clockwise per U-tube video. Engine pops and sputters but will not run. Went to Chat and was told the governor rod should have been rotated counter-clockwise before being clamped into place. I've done this but hesitate to try running the engine due to the damage I experienced after what seemed like a simple adjustment
