Lived in Kansas my whole life and thought I was going to make it all the way to the end without ever seeing a tornado. But my tornado-free streak was ruined by stupid F0 or F1 tornado that I saw out my window one sunny(!) day. It passed by about 3 or 4 miles away, making improvements to some rural properties as it went. Nobody got hurt. Until then, I'd never even seen a funnel cloud.

Pretty much the same story with rattlesnakes. I've only seen one live one so far.
