I was just wondering how much gas you are using in your units? I have the Honda 21hp. Hustler Fastrac Sd 48" and it seems to use about (3/4 GL) 3L of gas per hour, Is that normal? Would love your input.

I thank you in Advance.

I have a toro 50 inch with a kohler pro
I use about 1/2 gallon a hour in thick grass with hills. Less on flat land. The toro came with a Kawasaki it used about a gallon a hour.

I run a 48" Toro Z Master with a Kawasaki FX 20.5hp and I run maybe (3/4 of a gallon) per hour maybe a little less depending on the lawns I do, so I'd guess your Honda is about normal.

Is there a fuel type that y'all have found to be most effective in properties located at higher altitudes?

I can't say for higher altitudes because I'm about as low as it gets down here in Florida but I use Sunoco 93 octane in all my mowers and equipment.

I had a two-year-old Hustler 54 SD with the 23 horse Kawasaki and just got a fast track with the same motor.... both use 1 - 1.25 gallon per hour....in light cutting.
The unit that I had before that was a John Deere lawn tractor with a 17 horse Kawasaki and it was a real fuel Miser.... but guessing the bigger units get the same amount of work done per gallon...maybe more.

Dear Fuel usage,

I have a Hustler X-One with the FX-730 Kawasaki 23.5 HP, just cut my 5 acres yesterday and used 2.5 gal in 1 3/4 hrs. I had a JD X485 EFI that used 4 gallons for all 5 acres in 3 1/4 hrs, what time and money I will be saving, love my Hustler even more.

Now that I have done my oil change and use non mulch blades, the fuel usage is up to 3/4 gal per hour.

Keep telling us the facts on Hustler!

At higher altitudes you can run lower octane. I still just run regular 87 in mine and haven't noticed any pre-detonation or anything. The 23hp Kawasaki I have only has a hair over 8:1 compression, so higher octane fuel would actually make it lose power, not noticeably I'm sure, because it's harder to burn 93 octane vs. 87.

I use about 1 1/4 to 1 1/2 gallons per hour, but I have a good bit of thick grass and usually go half speed, occasionally slower.
