recently had to replace the engine on the Kawasaki FR730V and the new engine turns but won’t start. Went back over everything with a fine tooth comb on the installation and everything seems good.

- fuel is getting to carb
- starting fluid won’t help
- getting spark
- safety mechanisms are good
- engine has good compression in both cylinder
- coils are good
- starter is good

Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

You need

1.Air
2.Fuel
3.Spark at the correct TIME
4.Compression

What you typed out, engine "should" run, maybe.

Assuming, you are correct in your diag, I'm going with a loose flywheel bolt. Check the flywheel key and FW bolt torque per your engine manual.

The engines are run at Kawasaki. Check valve operation, valve lash, etc. If you spray starting fluid in the cylinder holes, will it pop off on that, I assume?

What is your definition of "new" engine?

Best guess: pull the kill wires off the coils and with fuel shut off, give it a shot of carb cleaner and see if it runs and stops. If it does, then you know the start circuit is being grounded. Typically a safety switch issue. Oh geez, just thought of this. Are you trying to start it in gear or with the deck engaged? No offense. This is the sort of dumbassery I engage in all the time.

Fuel tank cap not venting?

How much? Is the fuel line AT the carb inlet totally full in it's flowing stream? Or just trickling out of this hose?

Are you spraying directly INTO the carb venturi? Right down the throat of said carb? Are you using Ether?

Verified with what type of tool? Christmas light bulb or an open gap spark checker? Makes a huge difference.

How many PSI is what you call good?
