Front Wheel Bearings

Husqvarna has not use plastic bushings. It sound more like someone put MTD rims on the mower. The 9040H bushing are metal.

Post a couple pictures of the current bushings.

IF they are indeed MTD rims you are stuck with the plastic or bronze bushings. And the bronze ones are not cheap.
I have an MTD garden tractor from 1980.It had plastic bushings and they wore out after a couple of years.
I decided I would improve the front end quite a bit ,so I bought a set of boat trailer spindles with bearings, cut off the old spindles, cut the new axles to the same length, and put golf car tires on it. I also installed Bearing Buddies to allow lubing without removing the hubs. These axles are made for highway use, thousands of miles, sealed, waterproof so they should last a LONG time on my mower. The mower was sold by JC Penny, but made by MTD.
A real nice garden tractor. Hydraulic drive, hydraulic lift, with down pressure if needed. I have used it to lift the rear end when needed .The lift was not standard 3point,so I converted to 3 point, and now all my implements will fit(which I have also modified.)
Filled all 4 tires with water and antifreeze and it will pull a 4 ft scraper blade down my dirt road with the blade full of dirt. It has a low range but I haven't had to use it yet.
The only weak link now is the front axle pivot bearing. It too is plastic, but It will soon be replaced with a sintered bronze bearing made for dump truck front ends.
Overkill, I know, but do it once and do it right .
(Yes, I do wear a belt and suspenders!)
Best little tractor I have ever had.
They sure don't make them like they used to.

My front wheels have a lot of play in them so I am looking to replace the plastic bushings with flange bearings. I took off a wheel to measure And I found the following:
Spindle: 3/4 inch Bushing OD 1 inch. Hole ID in rim 1 Inch. Being plastic, the bearings probably wore out after the first season thus the wobble in the wheels. I am looking to replace them with flanged ball bearings but every kit I can find says the OD of the bearings is 1 3/8. (Amazon). Some of the kits have pictures showing the OD measurement as 1 3/8 . Too big for the hole in my rim. Are they measuring the OD of the bearing or the flange? I got the part number from Parts Tree which shows the plastic bushing as part number 532124959 superseded to 532009040. When I search the part numbers on Amazon all these bearing kits come up showing the bearing size as 1 3/8. Can someone shed some light on this for me? Thanks, Matt.
Side note on the Husqvarna, Neighbor gave it to me with a rod thru the crank case (Briggs). Neighbor next door gave me a Cub Cadet with blown head gaskets and magnets off the fly Wheel stuck to the stator. (Kohler). simple swap. It was a good winter project. Even came with a bagger.
The ball size would be vanishingly small on a 3/4 id and 1 of bearing...l that is why you're finding 1 3/8 OD...and , yes, that is the race size not the flange diameter.

Ball bearings with a 3/4" ID are widely available, but their OD is almost always larger—most commonly 1-3/8" (1.375") for flanged versions (especially in wheel, cart, lawn mower, or hand truck applications). Examples include:XiKe or similar brands on Amazon/eBay: 3/4" ID x 1-3/8" OD flanged ball bearings (often with ~0.43–0.5" width and a flange OD around 1.5").
Various wheel hub bearings: Same 3/4" x 1-3/8" sizing.

There is a bearing size with 3/4" ID x 1" OD, but it's typically:Non-flanged (plain radial ball bearing, like high-carbon steel shielded types from ServoCity or OnDrives.US, often thin at ~5/32" or 0.156" width).
Or flanged sleeve/plain bearings (bronze, oil-impregnated bushings—not rolling ball bearings—for low-speed or self-lubricating uses, like from McMaster-Carr, Hillman, or VXB.com). These are common in 3/4" ID x 1" OD with a flange (e.g., flange OD ~1-1/4", length 3/4"–1-1/2").

The plastic ones would be cheaper but the bronze oil impregnated would be a good fit.
 
It only lists his model in the Specifications...
Those are 1-3/8 OD bearings.

Guys the problem is someone installed MTD rims. Even if the OP installs flange Bronze bushings he will to come with a spacer or several properly sized washers. He would better off getting the correct rims.

I worked on a CC this last week that has these bushing that has over 500 hrs and they are barely worn. OF course they get greased regular on annual PMs. No one has mention the condition of the spindle shaft itself. The 9040 bushing originally use on the mower can gotten on worn that it damage the spindle shaft.

yep, i've seen spindles completely flat on the bottom.
