Freight for new mower order?

Has anyone heard of a dealer charging freight to order a mower they don’t have in stock? My grasshopper dealer mentioned that freight is around 500 to ship to him but he was going to wave it. I’m asking because he has said some other things to make the deal look good that he was giving me extra that didn’t come on any other quotes from other dealers.

If the unit is sold out or the dealer did not put it on his spring order, it is common to charge freight, as this is an expense with costs him big $$$ to special order.

Twin cylinder Briggs engine orders that total less than $2500 are $169 LTL freight. Husqvarna decks and bagger units are $250. Generac genset stator and rotors are $125 freight just as examples.

The dealer often gets free freight on larger orders. Or much reduced per unit if they can send a full truck load.
