I have an FR691V-BS23-R on my Dixie Chopper Zee 2. Motor has 204 hrs run time. Has always run flawlessly until it recently began to choke out, like it was fuel starved. I changed the inline fuel filter and the issue cleared up for a few weeks, then it returned. Since then I’ve replaced the carb with a new one (identical), pulled off fuel hoses to make sure they’re not clogged, taken the fuel cap off and covered the filler with a loose weave piece of cloth, to check for vapor lock, and while it’s down, replaced the plugs, oil and filter. Each time it starts fine (using choke just til it fires, then no choke), runs for up to four minutes, then chokes out and dies. The screen on the fuel pickup line is clear. I don’t know what to try next. Does anyone have a suggestion? Thanks.

You pulled the fuel lines, but did you test for good fuel flow? If you pull the line from filter to pump, how does the fuel flow? You could have crud in the tank/pickups. If you shine a flashlight in the tank, can you see the pickup? If you can fish it out, clean or replace. The fuel pump may not be working. Take the line from pump to carb off, and crank the engine. You need a decent flow. If not, check the line from the pump to the engine case, or wherever it goes. The gasket where it enters may be rotting. That's a couple of things you may not have checked.

After your suggestions, I pulled the line going into the fuel filter and blew through it into the tank, then pumped the tank clean, added new fuel, changed the fuel filter again, started the motor, and advanced it to full throttle. It ran very rough and ragged for about 3 minutes then smoothed out and the sound was different. I thought perhaps it had burned through whatever was clogging it, but 30 seconds later, it bogged out and died. It seems to be running out of fuel. Tomorrow I’ll try yo run fuel from a bottle to the carb, and see if there’s a difference.

You may have crud in the tank. Blowing back into the tank can get it flowing, but it will stop again. If that's the case, you need to clean the tank, and clean or replace the pickup filter. Usually I can fish that out of the tank. I'd check the fuel flow to pump and output from pump too.
