FR 691 Upgrade to electric fuel pump

I have replaced the vacuum pump a number of times but they just don't last and become unreliable. Has anyone replaced this with a low pressure electric fuel pump and were there any issues with this type of upgrade?
I see a lot of solenoid fuel pumps online rated 3-5 PSI 12VDC

Any feedback appreciated
 
The vacuum operated pulse pumps are your best option because they will not overwhelm the fuel float needle. They supply less than 1 psi on average. An electric pump of any kind would just flood the carburetor and dump fuel into the crankcase, which is never a good thing.

I suggest you investigate and replace or clear the fuel supply lines and clean the fuel tank if you are having these kinds of issues. I have seldom ever had to replace the stock pressure pulse pumps on any engine for a rider or an ATV.

EDIT:

Just 3 weeks ago, I had a Cub Cadet zero turn that is only a year old that was having a fuel delivery problem. I disconnected the fuel line at the carburetor and cranked the engine. The pump would only spit a little fuel and not a solid pulsing flow like normal.

It turned out the trash/clippings had gotten into the fuel tank and were sucked up into the fuel pickup and line. There was a bend in the fuel line that trapped much of the debris and restricted the fuel flow.

After cleaning the tank and blowing out the trash in the fuel line with shop air, the mower ran like new again.

You could use a low pressure 12V Facet style fuel pump (very large range) however as Auto Doc's suggests, even a low pressure one, may deliver too much pressure for the float valve. The solution would be installing a fuel return line with an internal restrictor jet.
Select a jet aperture that will bleed off just enough pressure to prevent overcoming the float chamber float valve.
Fuel return lines are used on many automotive and piston engine aircraft installations . T ing off the high pressure side is easy. Fitting a restrictor jet, to the T, also a no brainer. The hard bit, is fitting a return barb to the tank. 😈

Most of the small low pressure fuel pumps on amazon don't last long with gasoline. (Ask me how i know). Enen the ones that say they work with gas don't like ethanol gas.
 
Yeah actually I was in the same boat a few months ago. I made an entire fuel system that I designed specifically to work with an electric fuel pump for mu riding mower. I used one for a Kawasaki Mule 2510, and it only lasted a few months. I had to take that system out and put the old vacuum one in for now. I will be taking that setup off the shelf soon and will definitely be redoing it with a name brand fuel pump like Facet. That's what my experience was. You get what you pay for. You dont want your property burning to the ground. When it did work, it was SO NICE and started up and ran like it was EFI. Most of the time I didn't even have to use choke after adding that electric fuel pump.

Couple things that cause replacement pulse pump failure.


China clone replacement
Oil getting into the pulse hose. Pulse line should go up, not down where it leaves the engine so oil will not collect in the pulse hose.

I have been using
