Fertilizing in North Mississippi

When should I start applying fertilizer to the yard? I plan on getting soil samples soon for testing. Thanks.

Round 1 – Early Season
● Pre-emergent spray for control of crabgrass and other grassy weeds
● Spray for over-wintering broadleaf weeds including onions and dandelions as needed
Round 2 – Spring
● Additional pre-emergent spray to extend grassy weed control throughout the summer
● Spray for broadleaf weeds including chickweed, clover, and henbit as needed
● Fertilization to promote root development
Round 3 – Late Spring
● Spray for late germinating broadleaf weeds such as fireweed, and also crabgrass, and other grassy weeds (as needed)
● Fertilization to enhance root growth and early green up
Round 4 – Early Summer
● Spot treat for troublesome weeds such as crabgrass and nutgrass (as needed)
● Fertilization to maintain healthy green turf
Round 5 – Summer
● Continued control of troublesome weeds such as crabgrass and nutgrass (as needed)
● Fertilization to extend color throughout the end of the summer
Round 6 – Fall
● Pre-emergent spray for control of winter weeds
● Spray for early germinating broadleaf weeds including onions.
Round 7 – Winter
● Lime is applied to raise pH so next year’s fertilization is utilized more effectively
● Broadleaf weed control as needed including onions

thanks for the reply. i have more trouble with nutgrass and button weed more than anything.
