Just finished this mower. Guy had put on two new ignition modules on.
While he was here it started up and ran but I could tell it was not running right.
After he left, I started it a few times trying to figure out what the problem was
wrong. It would not start checked. It had no spark. He told me he had replaced the
ignition modules. Ask him if they were OEMs or after market. Guess what
cheap Chinese knock offs. I just happened to have an engine with those
exact modules installed them and guess what, spark. Still ran but still not
running right. Figured out the exhaust was stopped up. I had a spared muffler.
Stuck it on and it ran like it was supposed to. Set the top no load speed and
sharpened the blades. Tried it out, ran good but rode like a buck board.

And your point is Chinese ignition modules are full of surprises and the bonus word "new" that makes people think it is anything but the new parts.

The exhaust likely had a rodent nest from sitting. It is rare to have a muffler defect but not impossible.
