So, how leaf-free is your lawn when you are done raking? We go for "Good enough." My father-in-law must get every last leaf, even if it means crawling under shrubs.

I like to be outside and kind of go into gardening "withdrawal" as the days get colder. The fact that the stream of falling leaves is endless gives me a good excuse to go outside and tend to something.

I've always liked the cartoon that shows a guy with a spotless yard, standing with a rake under a tree, looking up at one last leaf left dangling from a branch.

Back in the day when I raked leaves, I did the best I could. It was near impossible to get them all, and even if I did, an hour later, new leaves were sprinkled all over the lawn. It's a waste to go for perfection on something like that.
