Engine surges after starting and eventually stalls

My zero turn Raptor Hustler surges and revs up and down after started.

Sometimes I am able to manually grab the choke and stop it from stalling. I even tried taping the choke in the open position. It last a little bit longer before revving and then stalling.

Any advice?

Dirty carb. Clean the entire fuel system, tank to carb.

Having to choking the carb means the engine is starving for fuel. Carb is dirty or something is restricting fuel flow to carb.

Verify carb solenoid is working.

Open fuel cap when it surges. Cap might not be venting.
