Engine Engine dies after restarting

My Scag Wildcat quit while I was mowing. I switched fuel tanks and tried to restart it. It started but immediately quit again. I checked the air cleaner, replaced the fuel filter and tried again. Same results. It restarts but dies within a second. I checked the seat switch but it works fine. I need help.

I know this is a weird answer but, make sure the gas valve is turned on all the way, next check the fuel pump.

Thanks John, but the mower quit even before I switched the tank and it had been running for a half hour. It sprays gas when I turned the key on, when I changed the filter, so I am sure the pump is working.
