my mower started 2 weeks ago and now it wont start. when i turn the key on and try to start it the wire that runs from the battery to the solinoid starts to glow red hot and starts to smoke the cable but when it does this it turns over. i need to know what i need to do to get the thing running again.

you need to check for shorted wires between the battery and the starter. could also have a short in the starter solenoid causing excessive amp draw.

Welcome to the LMF...
Like ILENGINE said, Check for short in the cable that is getting hot and also check the starter, it could have a broken magnet or other internal problem... and replace the wire that got hot, that kind or heat will ruin the copper and the ends... :smile:KennyV
