We give un-needed stuff to our local goodwill store it helps us, and creates jobs for people with disabilities...

Good for you, we also donate stuff to Goodwill, and then I buy stuff there too. My latest purchase was a nearly new Rowenta professional ironing board thats sells for $100 and tax locally...I paid $4.99 and tax.

My charitable giving consists of maintaining the grass at our local Humane Society Shelter. I'm a dog lover that could easily slip into hoarding dogs unless I get my fix every week playing with and walking different dogs from my own three. When I get home my girls sniff me all over wanting to know Who Is She? It's all fun.

Good for you, our niece works for the local Humane Society, I always donate to their operations when they have a fundraiser. When I see their ads with pictures of animals waiting for adoption I always want to run down and take them all....:frown: but we already have adopted four cats that were unwanted and cannot adopt more.

Yep i got a 12" color tv there for $7.50 and it works perfect.. I use it in the shoppe when i am tinkering.. I ran the satelite cable out there from the house.. I also bought a vhs player to use dubbing our videos from vhs to dvd for $6 and it is still working good..

Same here we have 2 dogs, and 2 cats we saved from the shelter.. I try to take them either some $$ or buy them a few large bags of cat, and dog food when i can..

As a farmer/rancher i have Donated plenty in my life by producing cheap beef and grain for the masses while working a full time off farm job to be able to sustain my own family.
As such i keep every dollar i make to myself, charities can go pound sand for all i care when their CEO's are making over 6 figure incomes.:frown:

Concur with Bison on his statement about too many CEO's of charities raking in big bucks, to solict donations when staff and management make obscene salaries is a farce of the first magnitude.

Local news here had an opinion authored by someone who claimed the past CEO of the Humane Society of the United States is collecting $260,000 a year in pension pay for the rest of his life. Pretty disgusting.

I pay taxes - and my government does my donating for me......all over the world.......

When I have some extra cash after doing that, I buy stuff like food and gas and insurance - you know - those 'extras'.

I will donate when they donate to me.:2cents:

I have donated but since doing a little research...as you all know the people at the top are rewarded very well indeed...but what really rots my socks is the fact up to 75% of donations can be used for "administration" purposes before any red flags are raised !!!!! so how much is really going to the cause? it`s nothing more than a business and probly always was....I still give but not like before and I always ask what % is for administration no answer, no give..I`d rather give unused or old items to Sally Ann or to Diabetes for resale than cash....jmho

Well said the critters, and others that need the donations get left out...
