Cub Cadet XT-1 Kawasaki EZ oil drain

I purchased a new Cub with the Kawasaki FR651V, did my first oil change at 5 hours and noticed afterwards checking everything the actual drain itself was loose wher the EZ drain screws into the block adapter, I could turn it with my fingers so I took a 15/16 and snugged it up some, I see no harm in that. I don’t see any leaks yet, Is this a common issue with these drains on the Cubs? I actually thought about converting it to something else but figured I’d wait
 
If this is the plastic 1/4 twist and pull out stye drain, it is very common for them to come loose. Also very common to leak, and also break draining the engine oil while running causing rapid unscheduled engine disassembly.

I would replace the valve at the next oil change with a more durable drain hose style.
 
Hmm, didn’t think about that, my motor has an adapter on it then the 1/4 turn EZ drain screws into it. i was thinking about putting the AM131610 into the place of the EZ drain and leave that adapter alone in the block. I’ll certainly check the thread pitch of the threads on the EZ during my next oil change. Not sure why Cub Cadet uses these things. It’s a decent concept overall just prone to issues

Based off my model number the part inside the block or the oil drain fitting is part number 737-04138A which shows a thread of M20X2.5, the drain valve is 951-10517A which I think is 3/8 but I’ll have to check into that.my plan is to just replace the drain valve itself and leave the oil fitting in the block itself alone.
 
My fault here. I was thinking among all the rat race here [Sundays are all a rat race here] that you were just wanting the complete assembly including the adapter. Yes the drain itself is threaded at 3/8 NPT.

Personally that drain is a poor design as it the plastic drain that are on JD Kawasaki engines. I had to replace several those plastic drains too.

There are metal versions for the Kawasaki engine just how and where they are to be located. Without seeing the setup in person I can't suggest which those metal drains would fit so a hose setup is probably best but make you secure out of the way when not in use.

Not suppose to rain today. The best plans of mice and men does get changed. Its pouring down.
