I recently changed both coil modules and notice on the right side a green wire connector. Can someone tell me where this goes or where connected to. I don't see anywhere missing connection.

Green wire on Kohler engines normally goes to the oil pressure switch either next to the oil filter or on some Command engines the oil cavity between the V that feeds oil to the hydraulic lifters.

That one looks like it has been shorted out and got hot.

It looks like it has been disconnected for a long time. It is likely used for and oil sender used on some applications, but not others. Not all harnesses used every connection; they were assembled according to what the rider manufacturer required.

I couldn't find anything on this model having an oil pressure switch on parts search but by the way it runs and based on what the switch does it appears to be the current problem. Should I get one and put on or should it run smooth if it is missing? Trying to figure out why it runs on cold startup and then after warmup it start misfiring. I done everything from replacing carb, turn up kit, adjust the valves .005, changed the gas, forced air in the fuel line to clear line, I'm at the end of the line.

Hi GBREA,

The oil sensor will not even let it start if was connected and bad. Seeing how it is not connected or exists on this engine, that is not your issue.

How did you set the coil air gaps between the coils and flywheel magnet? A simple plain business card usually works well. A segment from and old paperback book cover would be ideal.

From your description, it sounds like an ignition coil is getting hot and breaking down. Are those new coils from Amazon? Amazon sources many items from questionable sources overseas and have no quality control. Sure, they will refund you and send you another new one, but how many times before you get one that works. My record was 4 times before I quit using them altogether.

You will need 2 spark testers with an adjustable air gap set to SE so you can watch the spark activity for dropouts. Note: Plug-in inline "Christmas tree" type spark testers are junk, so don't waste your time.

Possibly the plugs could be having an issue especially if they came from Amazon. I only recommend genuine Champion or NGK plugs from a parts store or a more reputable source online. Too much junk being peddled online these days from quick shopping sites.

If you do need coils (again) replace them in pairs and go to Jack's small engine or Parts Tree. You spend the money for reliability and to spare you aggravation like this later down the road.

You are correct, I did purchase all my parts from Amazon. I will change them all.
