Has it been slow since you got it or has it just started being slow recently?

I personally don't know. You will have to wait for a more mechanically-inclined person to respond (like Rivets or ILENGINE) to get an answer.

The slow speed in reverse is due to the ANSI requirement that a mower cannot mow in reverse if the speed exceeds 1 MPH.
