My Craftsman 42" 6 speed transaxle tractor is stuck in first gear. When I try to shift in another gear their is a tremendous amount of resistance. Previously i had about 3 gears and it wouldn't go into the reverse position. When i took it apart I noticed that the i had a part on the shifter mechanism that was broke and I don't know if that was causing the issue or the result of me trying to force it into gear.

Sometimes my shifter has slight resistance when I shift gears. Pisses me off when I have to shift every 10 seconds and it does this.
Are you at least able to go in neutral?
