Craftsman needs help

The drive belt was replaced on my craftsman.I don't know what's wrong when I press the brake it moves forward and when I release it it stops...how is this possible

Belt installed incorrectly. We will need your model number from under the seat to see what mower you have to give better advice. Also was this an OEM belt or a generic doesn't quite fit belt.
