As in the title, I have a Craftsman 4.5hp, 22" mulcher... it says Eager-1 on top didnt grab the exact model number.
The mower is difficult to start, even with fresh gas, a new plug, and new air filter. Just pulling the cord does nothing, if I hit the primer like 10 times it'll start and run briefly -maybe 5 seconds- before dying off. Then it wont start again until I prime it again.
If I start it that way, and kneel down to keep hitting the primer as it runs, it will continue running for as long as I continue hitting the primer. If I keep it running this way long enough to get hot, eventually I can stop hitting the primer and it will continue running, but barely. The idle will be very choppy, almost dying out at times, but revive itself and rev back up.
Eventually, if I keep it running long enough 5-10 minutes maybe, the idle will even out and it will run like normal... but even then it feels weak, it chokes on grass I feel like it should be able to handle.
Any suggestions on what I should do to fix it? I am mechanically able with cars, I do all my own work, but Im not that familiar with small engines.
