Lawn mover run great - yesterday I released the bar and it didn;t shut off. When i release the bar the engine noise changed a little - but it kept right on running - had to remove wire off spark plug - Stilll thinking in buffalo
 
I have seen and fixed this before. This is what happened to one of my neighbors. Same as you when he let go of the bar everything kept working. Ran to my house to get me. I went over and found frayed cable at bottom. Cable was stuck. Pulled the cable out, got mower shut down. Went to store and got new cable. Problem solved. Mileage may vary on your problem.
