Cold start

I have a 20hp Intek motor. I just started having problems with cold start. Cranks good but when it’s cold it takes several minutes of cranking to get it to fire. When it does start, it starts out a little sluggish but runs great when warmed up. Than I can shut it off and restart with no problems. Next day, same thing. New spark plug, fuel filter, fuel shutoff solenoid checked and working. Checked valve clearance. Out of ideas. Any help would be appreciated.
 
It probably has Choke and Throttle in one, correct? put it in the full choke position, remove the air filter/air intake so you can see the choke butterfly in the carburetor, be sure it is 100% closed, even the slightest bit open can cause an issue.
I know on Kohler engines, there is a screw you can turn in to tighten the choke link, i've never had to do it on an intek before.
 
Check to see if the choke is closing all the way. Push the throttle/choke control fully forward and then see if the choke is closed. If you can see it loosen the control cable clamp and push the entire cable forward until it stops. Now try starting. It’s not uncommon for these cables to backup over time, not allowing the choke to fully close. Sorry, Scrub beat me to it.

Well I got to the carb to take a look. Choke seems to be closing ok. It was a little sticky opening and closing. I cleaned everything up, used some carb cleaner, used some lube on linkages, and put it back together. Didn’t start right up, but a little better. Will recheck tomorrow.
