Code date ?

I looking up a carb for a mower and it gives two different carbs part numbers. The note says "use before code date or after code date" where do I find this code date please.

code date can be found near the model and type numbers.

The number will be electronically etched on the flat side of the engine block opposite the carburetor. For larger single cylinder and V-twin engines, the number are stamped into the top of a valve cover.

No numbers on block. There is a MAR 16 12 below the engine number though.

Take a picture of the engine and valve cover all around it. Anything that looks like a serial number. Post it here.

Probably have to clean the engine first so you can see some metal and numbers.

Clean the cooling fins while you are at it.
