Clockwise Battery String Trimmer ?

I find myself interested in having a straight shaft battery trimmer that would turn clockwise, I'm right-handed and it simply feels like I'm walking backwards going to the left all the time to keep the waste out of the flower beds. I understand the Husq 520ilx is selectable and that some have altered other models with the shafted mounted motor to reverse. I'm considering tearing a Ryobi 40V brushless apart and wiring in a reversal switch. I'm sure the line feed will not work in the opposite direction but uncertain if it would simply work to trim then reverse to feed line. This could possibly be overcome by adding the head that uses sling blades instead of string.

Walking backwards when trimming is both slower, and potentially dangerous for safety.
If right handed, you walk forward and lock the trimmer close to your body and line throws the grass away from beds. Takes some getting used to and practice.
 
In theory you should be operating the throttle with your left hand. OR keep the trimmer on your right side. Across the body does feel more comfortable and you are better balanced. I am left handed myself and had to get use to all the right hand things as it is a right handed world. A good example is chainsaws they are design for right handed operation with the left hand on the throttle and right hand on the wrap around handle.

But at least us lefties are in our right mind. You righties are in the your left mind which is not right.:giggle:
 
Gentlemen, I've got the motor running fine Clockwise. According to the info I obtained, the only mechanical issue that must be completed now is to alter the head adapter so that it will not unscrew, I intend to drill and add a small roll pin. Turning around the line cuter will make it work. One may also want to alter the debris shield dependent on how it flys. You can see the wiring changes in the picture. Two of the primary wires (red & black) are swapped. Also, two of the sensor wires (blue and yellow) are swapped. All of which were easily removed from connectors and reinserted. It is said that some of the brushless machines have different color wires so some trial and error may be necessary to find the correct combination. I'll pick up and Echo Speed Feed 400 tomorrow (Thank you Tonebalone) and see just how this thing will works.
