Charging System

Hello, this is my first post - question. I picked up an old simplicity awhile back. Not sure if it’s the original engine. Runs great but keeps going dead and quitting. The older gentleman that had it put and electric chute and lift for the snowblower. It also has an electric pot and a couple lights. I don’t think he moved much snow with it or he was dishonest. I put a new regulator on it as it was barely putting out any dc. It’s a 20 hp b&s single cylinder. Any idea what it should be putting out? It’s also a new battery. Sorry for the long post.

Need to know which engine, model and type. Also which regulator you used.

One thing did you ground the regulator case?

Hello Odee,

Welcome to the forum, there are lots of knowledgeable people here who can help you.

We need all the machine information possible, because they are all different. No one likes to guess or should.

Like StarTech said we need the engine number, model and type information but also the manufacturer label information for the rider itself.

Lack of charging voltage has multiple common causes but also has some unusual ones. I will not speculate because the list can be quite long.

The charging system can be a couple of different designs.

A picture of your voltage regulator would also help.
