i have a craftsman lawn tractor 917271030 with a KOHLER CV16S43514 engine. i went to start my tractor today and got a one click and than nothing so i jumped it with my car got it running for about a hour then dead. while running the battery meter did not move like normal mostly stayed in middle. i am taking the battery to local auto part store in morning to check the battery is there anything else i need to check or what else could be wrong. any tips or help would be great.
thank you

Make sure voltage regulator/rectifier gets power from the battery when you put neg lead of the volt meter to the ground and pos lead to the middle lead of the regulator/rectifier. Should show the same DCV what battery has. It needs power to make power.
Also you can check AC voltage when engine is running. I think it should be showing something between 50-40 ACV when you put the volt meter leads on each outside wire. That indicates if stator is okay and putting out voltage.
Make sure you pay attention to ACV and DCV
