Planning on building a couple of traps to catch carpenter bees this week if I get time. Every year they drill into something here at the house. A couple of times they have attacked the handles on my wheel barrow.

Seems like I remember an old timer tell me they are good to have around because they take care of termites??

They are about like having giant termites. They will bore into shovel handles and wheel barrow handles and about anything else you can name.
When I was a kid I thought that they were going to eat the barn down and it looked that way at times.

Yep they can do some damage.

From what I remember it seems they dont like painted wood surfaces at all.

My wife's brother who I do not like sprays his deck with hair spray and it works.

(( racing is the only sport that you need two balls ))
