Buying a new mower

Looking to buy a used mower. Would like either a walk behind or a riding tractor, and must be 36" or bigger. Price range is around $1200. Any recomendations? What should i be looking for in a mower?

I have owned a used type 5 Snapper rear engine rider for 22 years now..
I had to change the engine a year after I bought it and after 20 years has only needed minor parts replaced..

I see them here in GA going for about $500 but a 30" is about as big as you will find..
