Buying Advice Buying a Craftsman model 28856

I am close to buying a Craftsman 42" 24 HP Turn Tight Hydro Sears no. 0712885600 for $1550.00. I agree with the wisdom of not buying a protection agreement as it is usually not economical for the buyer. I can do the normal maintenance items. However, I am not able to do things like diagnose problems and replace parts.
I would appreciate any comment or advice about (1) buying this mower, and (2) should I buy the protection agreement or use independent shops. Thanks.

craftsman mowers are great and they last a long time. you can get parts for them at just about any
shop near you. i would not buy the extended protection because by the time the warranty runs out all the bugs should be worked out of the unit. i hope this helps

I agree with you 100%. also sears parts direct has parts for EVERYTHING on the tractors.

I purchased a Craftsman tractor like yours last summer and I am pleased with it so far. It came with a two year warranty which is good and says a lot about the quality of the machine. Being that I only use it to cut my yard which is not that big and I take reasonable care of it there's no reason why it should not last . I would not buy an extended warranty but put the money in escrow for any repairs down the road if and when they occur. By the way, what does the extended warranty cost?
