I have a John Deere 160 with Kawasaki FB460V engine. The yellow wire coming from the starter solenoid melted down and I can’t figure out what it connects to. Can anybody tell me? Thanks for any help.

If it is coming from the solenoid, it probably is going to the switch. Please post the tractor model number, behind the left rear wheel, and we should be able to find you a wiring diagram.

Got it figured out and fixed. Once I took the starter off I found the wire that was burned behind it. Running like a champ again. Thanks!

Everyone should come back with a follow up so we can store that away for the next diagnostic event. That way we know if what you were told worked or why it happened. Would be nice anyway.

Now here a good question. What cause it to cook the wire in the first place?
It appears the coating was stripped off the wire behind the starter and grounded the wire. It lit up very impressively! I thought the engine was on fire for a moment.
