Broken Blade Mount Housing On Riding Mower

I hit a piece of rebar sticking up out of the ground and the aluminum blade mount housing broke. I think it is called the spindle housing.
Where is the best place to get one ? Are these generic parts of which I might find a used one on an old cutting deck ?
My riding mower is a Poulan though my neighbor has one exactly like it, 'cept it's orange and called an Ariens.
My Poulon product number is 960160024, Model number PXT175G42, S/N 101910D006273.

You might recheck your product number, but this should be close enough. Find a local Poulan dealer, or any local lawn shop, and buy it aftermarket, or as a Poulan, it is cheaper that way. Just don't buy it as a Husqvarna part, or one of the many other brands.

They had it (Oregon) and it was cheaper by $8.00, :licking:.
Now that I have it I need to remove and replace the bearings. I am off to "search" but feel free to chime in on a good method. I do not have a press.

You won't need one, Just rethread the big nuts on the end down to the end of the threads to protect them, and tap with a hammer, should come right out, just protect the threads.

Actually I am trying to get them out of the old one first. The upper bearing is closer to the end of the spindle housing, the lower bearing is recessed more, and also larger in diameter.
It looks like I will try to knock the upper bearing out with a socket extension, then use a large socket on the extension for the bottom bearing.
Putting them back in I will use my automotive freeze plug driver set which has different sized heads that screw on to a hammer drive shaft.

I got to thinking. Instead of wasting your time, 'cause I figure y'all know about the EPA's intrusion, I figured I would use the forum "search" feature looking up EPA threads. Plenty of posts in various thread but no dedicated threads.
Anybody know of a good thread which can help me understand the full impact ? I just heard about it from Ryobi when they told me they could not give me a "starting point" for low and high idle adjustments after a rebuild/cleaning. I then soon found out that my local repair shop (with a three week wait) could not sell me the specialty adjusting screw driver.

Cliff, we have discussed this issue some. As a homeowner I bought a Sears weedwacker which would not idle and would not power up to full rpm. I made a tool that allowed me to adjust the idle screw and hi speed jet. In the thread discussion I asked professionals how they complied with emissions adjustment on 2 strokers. The responders said there is no scientific method ( exh gas analyser, etc). So that seems to be a disconnect. I do believe shops probably do a good job, but so can some diyers. If things have changed. Please advise. We know 2 strokers are inherently "dirtier" (and more powerfull) than 4 strokers. CA does not allow 2 stroke stuff, I believe.
