broke pull string

What am I shooting for in pull string size?
Can I just use paracord I have lying around?

Most are number 4 or 4.5.

All that can happen is it breaks
Not as much of a problem on the mower as on a chute

just an opinion but I think parachute cord will chafe a lot faster. Any mower shop will have plenty lying around if you take the old pieces to them. Some cords have a stop that clamps on them.
