Briggs and Stratton engine cutting out

It has a slide switch under the steering wheel just slightly biased to foot brake side on the right.
The switch slides one of two ways up and down and has a park brake like symbol on it.
Does this clarify anything ?

Yes it clarifys age so is 1996ish.
I would say remove that wire from throttle cable area and see what happens.
 
Pugaltitude thank you so much you hit the nail on the head. Cut the black wire it never stalled, reconnected it it stalls.......so now I put a switch on dash to break the earth whilst running but have to connect it back to shut it down with key.
Thanks to all who gave their input - my grass is also very grateful.
