Briggs and Stratton 500e running rough and dying

I have a Briggs and Stratton 500e push mower that just had the air filter and spark plug changed, plus I took the carb off and made sure everything was clean, but when I start it seems to have little power, shakes alot, and if you push it over grass it'll die. I also noticed it will run better, but still rough, if you pull the air filter away from the block.

Any ideas what is going on?
 
Hi! I have Toro Recycler 22" with B&S 6.5Hp engine. Every time I had problem with starting engine. Week ago I cleaning fuel system and put new plastic carburetor with auto chock. Now engine starting for first pull bat after15-30 sec start waving. After that I put new spark plug and ignition coil. Nothing changed. Still waving.. Somebody have any ideas where is problem?
 
You may have to disassemble it and pull the fuel tank to empty it. Most modern fuel tanks have built in screen filter that get choked up.

It also helps to pull the carburetor and clean the fuel bowl, needle and main jet
 
Was the problem the reason you serviced it or, was it running fine then you serviced it and the problems started? This is an important question.

You posted Sunday, it is now Thursday night. You are a newbie, and if you don't comment about the status, people will abandon this thread because they will say to themselves, "hmmmn, newbie and we never hear from them again."
 
I'm not sure the cause. My wife was using it and the next time I went out to use it there was oil on the ground underneath it and it ran rough.
 
It would have helped to mention the oil underneath in your original post.

Now it sounds more like a solid item was struck and the crank has been bent.

Disconnect the plug wire and remove the plug. Then tilt the mower and inspect the blade and crankshaft for damage.
